岩城京子 フリーランス・ジャーナリスト。77年、東京都出まれ。86年から91年までニューヨーク在住。94年から96年まで東京バレエ団選科に在籍。96年、慶応義塾大学環境情報学部(SFC)に入学。在学中より舞台コラム、取材文等を書きはじめる。99年、同大学同学部卒。01年独立。現在主にパフォーミング・アーツを専門にしたジャーナリストとして活動。世界13カ国で取材をこなし年間100本以上の記事を執筆する。主な執筆先に、AERA、日経WOMAN、シアターガイド、朝日新聞など。ローザス、ナチョ・デュアト、ホフェッシュ・シェクター、ロメオ・カステルッチ、などの来日公演プログラムへの寄稿も多数。またフリーランスのアート・コンサルタントとして、フェスティバル/トーキョーなどに協力する。2010年、神奈川芸術劇場クリエイティブ・パートナー就任。2011年9月よりロンドン大学ゴールドスミスカレッジ修士課程演劇学科在籍。現在、東京とロンドンを拠点に和英両文で執筆活動を行う。2011年11月、著書『東京演劇現在形 八人の新進作家たちとの対話』出版。2012年、フランスActes Sud社より天児牛大自伝 出版予定。

Born December 19, 1977 in Tokyo, Japan. After being trained as a professional ballet dancer she entered the Keio University in Tokyo and attained a BA degree in environmental information whilst launching her own cultural magazine Paperknife. After graduation, she started her career as a freelance performing arts journalist in 2001. Since then she has conducted interviews with artists in fourteen different countries and has continued to write over one hundred articles annually. Her articles have been published in magazines and newspapers, widely in Japan, and occasionally in the United States and United Kingdom including: AERA Weekly News Magazine, Theatre Guide Japan and Asahi Newspaper, among others. Her texts also regularly appear in official theatre performance programs and pamphlets. Recently she has been working also as an independent artistic consultant, contributing to organisations such as Festival/Tokyo. She was appointed Associate Creative Partner of Kanagawa Arts Theatre in 2010. From September 2011 she has studying at Goldsmiths, University of London. In November 2011, her latest book Tokyo Theatre Today: Conversations with Eight Emerging Theatre Artists was published. Now she writes both in English and Japanese.
